Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Lexington United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Lee O’Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Lexington Cemetery. He was born July 27, 1908 to Frank E. and Meta (Gest) Ahrendt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtie Campbell Ahrendt on Nov. 30, 1933; parents; brothers, Rudolph, Robert, Werner, and Willie; sisters, Minnie Brinkman and Ella Ahrendt. He worked as a carpenter for a construction company. Survivors include three sons, Donald Ahrendt and wife Arlene of Cameron, Michael Ahrendt and wife Carol of Lexington and David Ahrendt and wife Kay of Austin; daughter, Kay Sweat and husband Ernie of Lexington; grandchildren, Michael and Haley Sweat, David and Kim Sweat, Jeffrey and Stacey Ormsby, Cara and Scott Boynton, Ernest and Suzanne Sweat, William and Linda Ahrendt, Kelly and Louis Dellerman, Stacey and Kelly Wuthrich, Rachel and Glenn Cole, Carissa Ahrendt, Jarrett Ahrendt, Amy McSpadden and Barbara Ahrendt; great-grandchildren, Macy Sweat, Levi Sweat, Shelby Ormsby, Megan Elliott, Chelsea Elliott, Dustin Wheeler, Alex Cole, Jeremiah and Lynn Botts, Michelle and Jason Petty, Nicholas Wuthrich, Gavin Wuthrich, Patrick Cole and Andrew Cole; five great-great-grandchildren, Robi Huffman, Kelsi Petty, Layni Petty, Ethan Botts and Elijah Botts. Pallbearers were Robert Ahrendt, Fred Ahrendt, Dale Ahrendt, Gene Brinkman, Lee Brinkman, Louis Seidl, Jarrett Ahrendt and Jeremiah Botts. Honorary pallbearers were Clifton Seifert, Billy Buetow, Bill Morris, Fred Rhodes, Jack Simmons, Donald Snider, Mac Nettles and Mrs. Ahrendt’s grandchildren.
