Tom Hanus officiating. Burial followed in the Hernandez Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13. Mr. Vargas died Wednesday, May 11, at his residence. An oil rig worker. He was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Cameron to Marcelino and Patricia Vargas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Fernando J. Vargas. Survivors are a son, Daniel Vargas Jr. of Temple; four daughters, Mavi Govea of Killeen, Patricia Calzoncin of Killeen, Norma Linda Vargas of Cameron and Rosario Reyna of Temple; two brothers, Roberto Vargas and Fernando Vargas, both of Temple; and four sisters, Oralia Pester of Canton, OK, Martha Lopez of Okeene, OK, Elida Puentas of Cameron and Jesusa Martinez; also, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
