Gandy, 103, of Cameron, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at Green-Patterson Funeral Home with Rev. Bert Graham officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery near Cameron. Mrs. Gandy passed away on Tuesday in a Brownwood nursing home. Mrs. Gandy, a homemaker, was born on March 17, 1902 in Milam County to Jesse and Fannie (Sutcliff) Nelson. She was a member of Liberty Community Church. Mrs. Gandy was the oldest living 4-H Club member, who was a member of the Tomato Club that preceded the 4-H Club. She was honored on her 100th birthday at Texas A&M University as the oldest living member in the nation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim D. Gandy. Survivors include two sons, Dr. James Gandy of Brownwood and Jesse Gandy of Ledbetter; three daughters, Maxine Fail of Cameron, Minnie Schmidt of Mason and Thelma Wade of Austin; also, 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
