Leschber, 86, of Thorndale died May 5 at his home. Funeral services were held May 11 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with the Rev. James Mann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Leschber was born in the Detmold Community on June 12, 1918 to Bertha (Unnasch) and Walther Leschber. He married Alvira Kieschnick on May 7, 1939. He was a lifetime resident of the area, a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale and a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was a farmer and rancher. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Carmen. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alvira Leschber of Thorndale; daughter, Betty Melcher and husband, Curtis, of Marysville, KS; son, Bobby Leschber and wife, Phyllis, of Austin; grandchildren, Marshall Melcher, Melissa and Brian Shultz, Sonja Melcher, Tasha and Eric Speier, Shantelle and Tommy Grace and Dr. Jon and Melanie Sherman; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ashlyn and Zach Shultz, Jax Grace and Matthew and Sydney Sherman. Pallbearers were Leroy Wuensche, Eddie Felfe, Fred Richter, Marvin Rodenbeck, Freddie Wuensche and Bonner Hardegree. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
