Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 in at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Billy Evan of Marquez Baptist Church and Mr. Lenton Speer officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Sapp, a homemaker, was born Jan. 5, 1928 in Rosebud to Paul and Vera (Hillin) Klump. She married W.J. Sapp on July 15, 1946 in Rosebud. Mrs. Sapp was member of Marquez Baptist Church in Marquez and charter member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Sapp on Feb. 20, 1994; her parents; and a sister, Pauline Miller. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Alford and husband Harold of Houston and Betty Speer and husband Mike of Marquez; two sisters, Vera Miller of Rosebud and Cora Hilmers of Houston; three grandchildren, Kyle and Brook Speer of Huntsville and Kent Speer of Marquez; great-granddaughter, Kendall Elizabeth Speer of Huntsville, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mike Speer, Kyle Speer, Kent Speer, Harold Alford, Mike Burrough and John Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers included Marvin Cunningham, Mike Cunningham, Jimmy Hilmers, Bobby Miller, Tim Speer, Ben Speer, James Miller and Matt Lehmkuhl.
