Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with Rev. Edwin Kagoo officiating. Burial followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Masiel was born April 15, 1923 in Rockdale to Jose Angel Mireles and Amanda (Garcia) Mireles. She married Samuel Masiel on Feb. 14, 1943 in Rockdale. She enjoyed flowers along with being a homemaker and a retired nurse’s aide at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Mrs. Masiel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Enez Mireles; three grandchildren and parents. Survivors include her husband, Samuel Masiel of Rockdale; four sons, Mario Masiel of Round Rock, Joseph A. Masiel of Round Rock, Sam Henry Masiel of Fairfield and Peter Masiel of Victoria; four daughters, Mary H. Masiel Henry of Canada, Dolores Masiel of Rockdale, Lollie Zapata of Whitehouse and Yolanda Salazar of Hearne; two sisters, Valentina Pachicano of Wolfforth and Jessie Juarez of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Henry Masiel Jr., Jeremiah Masiel, Aaron Zapata, Christopher Masiel, Reyniel Masiel and Chase Masiel. Honorary pallbearers included Ryan Masiel and Jonathan Masiel.
