Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, April 8 in the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Leon Lott and minister Bob Bell of Blue Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed in Lexington Cemetery in Lexington. Mr. Alexander was born April 21, 1942 in Groesbeck to John M. and Lela Bell (Lankford) Alexander. He married Opal Nelson on Jan. 18, 1986 in Lexington. Mr. Alexander was a resident of Lexington since 1984 and formerly of Houston. He worked as a deputy sheriff with the Lee County Sheriff Department from 2001 to present and as the Lexington Chief of Police from 1985 to 2001. Mr. Alexander was a member of the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department and the Lexington Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John H. Alexander. Survivors include his wife, Opal Alexander of Lexington; two sons, Billy Alexander and wife Gwen of Houston, Dwayne Cass and wife Sandra of Lexington; three daughters, Natalie Brucia and husband Gioacchino of Shreveport, Louisiana, Lisa Bleeker and husband Gary of Rockdale, Carmen Tovar of Lexington; brother, Charles Alexander and wife Mary of Hemphill; three sisters, Mozelle Neatherlin of Lorena, Betty Dussetschleger and husband Louis of Lexington, Shirley Post of Houston; eight grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Cass, Lakin Cass, Taylor Tovar, Koye Bleeker, Michael Bleeker, Justin Bleeker and Chris Bleeker. Pallbearers included Butch Alexander, Darrel Dussetschleger, Steve Post, Tommy Parker, Mike Alexander, Thomas Nelson and Ned Renfro. Honorary pallbearers were the Lee County Sheriffs Office.
