Ellis, 83, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Chapel in Rockdale with Rev. Pete Belew of Rockdale Christian Church officiating. Burial followed in Forest Grove Cemetery near Rockdale. Mrs. Ellis was born Sept. 18, 1921 in New Salem Community near Rockdale to James F. Holliman and Lula Lee Whiteley. She married Jesse D. Ellis on Dec. 14, 1940 in Rockdale.  She worked as a clerk at Prewitt Drug Store, a cook at Dairy Queen and also owned and operated Ellis Cafe in the late 50’s; all in Rockdale. She was a member of Rockdale Christian Church. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse D. Ellis on May 6, 1985; 11 brothers, Walter, Jake, Clyde, Albert and Elton Holliman, Johnny, Howard, Martin, Seburne, Louie and Fred Whiteley; 5 sisters, Alcie Chaddock, Velma Livermon, Gracie Hagnes, Etta Fails and Fannie Whiteley. Survivors include son, Leroy Ellis and wife Sandra of Rockdale; daughters, Carolyn (Sally) Kelley and husband Mike of Austin, Janice Telg and husband Theo of Rockdale; sister, Ruth Robinson of Rockdale; 7 grandchildren, Lori Kelley Penrose, Terry Petty Blanchard, Jessica Kelley Murillo, Steven Ellis, Tracy Telg Chambers, Tammy Telg and Tram Telg; 18 great grandchildren, Jason Culp, Samantha Hilker, Danielle Hilker, Megan Hilker, Beth Blanchard, Chance Penrose, Matthew Telg, Layne Ellis, Dalton Penrose, Christian Chambers, Brian Blanchard, Ben Blanchard, Erin Blanchard, Mason Ellis, Wyatt Chambers, Jenna Murillo, Juliana Murillo and Colton Ellis. Pallbearers included Harvey Holliman, Gary Holliman, Doug Chaddock, Donald Ray Whiteley, Bruce Holliman and Wayne Holliman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockdale Christian Church Scholarship Fund, 1406 Sager, Rockdale, TX 76567.
