Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Angel officiating. Burial followed in the Little River Cemetery near Jones Prairie. Mrs. Crook was born Oct. 17, 1911, in Milam County to James Addison and Lillie (Minerva) Brand. She married Homer Crook on Oct. 14, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1983. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store and later a meat locker plant in Cameron. Mrs. Crook was a member of First Christian Church in Cameron. Her sister Rowena Brand and a grandson Chris Matula also preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Bruce Crook of Cameron, Jimmy Crook of Hearne; daughter, Betty Matula of Alvin; also, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
