Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McClaren died Sunday, July 30, in a Temple nursing facility. She was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Milam County to James Monroe and Myrtle Mae (Ezzell) Mitcham. Mrs. McClaren was a homemaker who loved to dance and play bridge and loved her family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cameron and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She married Lawrence McClaren on Sept. 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death in April 1999. Mrs. McClaren was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dan Lawrence McClaren, and a great-grandson, Caleb McClaren. Survivors include three sons, Jimmy McClaren of Austin, John McClaren of McGregor, Larry McClaren of Salado; a sister, Estelle Garlich of San Marcos; also, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
