Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Roark of Belton officiating. Burial followed in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood. Mrs. Davenport was born May 19, 1912 in Lexington to Charles and Willie (Hensley) Harris. She married Less Davenport in July 1962 in Lexington. Mrs. Davenport was a greeter at the Rockdale Wal-Mart for 18 years. She had also worked at the telephone office in Dickenson and worked in the cafeteria for the Lexington ISD. She was a resident of Rockdale since 1992 formerly of Pleasant Grove Community. Mrs. Davenport was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and enjoyed singing with the Meadowlarks. She was a former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was active with the Rockdale Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed helping people, quilting, sewing, yardwork and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Less Davenport; son, Jerry L. Davenport; brother, Charles R. Harris; sister, Hilda Strange. Survivors include four sons, Les Wayne Davenport of Rockdale, Douglas E. Davenport of Rockdale, Brian A. Davenport of Rockdale and Terry Lee Davenport of San Antonio; daughter, Peggy Masiakowski of Cedar Park; brother, Bill Harris of Alto; sister, Jeffy Doss of Rockdale; sister-in-law, Mary Harris of Lockhart; 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve White, James Doss, Randy Dismukes, Luther Hodge, Wayne Stifflemire and Earl Cooper.
