Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Minister Gene Van Noord of East 3rd Street Church of Christ in Cameron officiating. Burial followed in the Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale. Mr. Sutton was born Oct. 5, 1925 in Yoakum to Charlie Frank and Augusta (Quast) Sutton. He married Peggy Ann Diver on Nov. 21, 1997. He retired from Alcoa after having worked as a pot room shift foreman for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, George, Cecil, Emil, Gardner “Shrimp” and Jack Sutton. Survivors include his wife Peggy Ann Sutton of Rockdale; step-son, Kerry Schlemmer and wife Tammy of Rockdale; daughter, Susan Rinderknecht and husband Ronny of Grapevine; sister, June Champion of Burnett; two granddaughters, Reagan and Raeley Rinderknecht. Mr. Sutton was a resident of Rockdale for the past 9 years, having moved from Taylor. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Marine Corp. He was a member of East 3rd Street Church of Christ in Cameron and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a graduate of Taylor High School and attended Rice University.
