Velma was born May 11, 1929 in Rockdale, Texas to the late Charlie and Lydia Farris. Velma is preceded in death also by a sister and a brother and her husband of 48 years, J. P. Bonnette, Jr. Mr. Bonnette was a leader who worked in the Deer Park community for many years, of which he served on the School Board for DPISD. J. P. Bonnette Junior High was named after Mr. Bonnette after his many years of service and Velma was very proud of this honor. She worked for over 25 years in the Admissions Office at San Jacinto Junior College. Velma leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Vicki Thompson and her husband Don of Mandeville, LA and Terry Lee Bonnette, Sr. of Deer Park; her six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; along with many other loving family members and friends. Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway on Saturday, September 23, 2006 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM with services to follow at 12:30 PM in The Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park. Those wishing to make donations in Velma's honor can do so to Bonnette Student Scholarship Fund, J.P.
