Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at Clarkson Cemetery near the Clarkson community with Gene Van Noord officiating. Mr. Yates, a retired farmer and he was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ. He was born Aug. 30, 1932 in the Jones Prairie Community of Milam County to Thomas and Lena Yates. He married Mary Ann Parcus in Aug. of 1964. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Yates of Cameron; two sons, John R. Yates, Jr. of Cameron and Thomas Yates of Temple; two brothers Leo Yates of Cameron and Jamie Yates of Waco; three sisters, Pearl Mayer of Cameron, Polly West of Brownsville and Lena Mae Santos of Harker Heights; seven grandchildren.
