Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at Gause Baptist Church in Gause with Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Gause Cemetery. He was born May 19, 1935 in Marlin to E.C. and Mildred Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins, known as a horse trader, was a member of Gause Baptist Church and also served in the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Lois Wilkins of Gause; mother, Mildred Ely and Maurice Bowling of Gause; son, J.D. and RiTa Wilkins of Evadale; four daughters, Beverly and Johnny Nigliazzo of Hearne, Kay and Steve Rachui of LaPorte, Diane and Robert Choates of LaPorte and Jennifer and Ronnie Choates of Canyon Lake; sister, Wanda and Alfred Coats of Gause; 12 grandchildren, Shana Sleeper, Shane Nigliazzo, Shelli Sheppard, Kristi Whitney, Mistie Rachui, Stefanie Morales, Jason Wilkins, Holli Wilkins, Bradley Choates, Brent Choates, Brandon Choates and Jeff Choates; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Whitney, Steven Whitney, Kaitlyn Morales, Anthony Morales, Cole Sheppard, Clay Sheppard and Kyler Nigliazzo; niece, Sherri Rasco; two nephews, Ray Coats and Kevin Coats. Pallbearers included his grandsons.
