Owens, 82, of Rockdale died Monday, May 30, 2005 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Chuck Salmon of Forest Grove Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood. Ms. Owens was born March 7, 1923 in Liberty Hill to William T. (Tom) Shepherd and Martha (Mattie) Copeland Shepherd. She married Cecil Owens on Jan. 21, 1956 in Austin. Ms. Owens, a graduate of Liberty Hill High School, was a secretary/bookkeeper for Rockdale Ford for over 30 years. She was a resident of Rockdale since 1956 and a member of Forest Grove Christian Church and Young at Heart Club. Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, reading and planting. Ms. Owens was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Owens; son, Thomas Wayne (Tony) Owens on March 14, 1999; brothers, Floyd, Claude, Fred, Charles and Kenneth Shepherd; sister, Emma Inman. Survivors include son, Calvin Estepp and wife Jean of Pflugerville; four daughters, Betty Kostelka and husband Emil of Bryan, Cil Howell and husband Joe of Houston, Linda Dodge and husband Bill of Cedar Park, Pat Owens of Houston; daughter-in-law, Faye Owens of Silsbee; brother, Hershel Shepherd of Georgetown; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
