He died of cancer Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at his home in Gause. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mae Springer. Surviving are: Father, George Lee Springer of Chandler; wife of 31 years, Linda Springer of Gause; two sons, Lee Springer of Bryan and Stephen Springer of Gause; one daughter, Melody Springer of Gause; a brother, Donald Springer of Tennessee Colony; a sister, Barbara Lynn Williams of Atascosa, and two grandchildren. Mr. Springer worked in the Signal Department of the Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years. He was an officer and member of the Gause Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years and worked with the Gause Parents Club Inc. and soccer teams. Revs. Jimmy Sanders and Dwayne Word officiated with burial in the Gause Cemetery.
