He was born May 4, 1908 at Jones Prairie in Milam County and was a retired security guard for Monsanto Chemical Co. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron, Rev. John Self officiating. Burial was in the Little River Cemetery near Jones Prairie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Black on April 4, 1995. Survivors are a son, Leonard Black of Cameron; a brother, Charles Black of Malakoff; three sisters Dorothy Mae Crook, Allah Maria Murphy and Joyce Faulk, all of Malakoff; also two grandchildren.
