Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, July 10 at Lexington United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda O’Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Lexington Cemetery. Ms. Nettles, homemaker, was born July 22, 1921 in Lexington to Charlie H. and Rosie (Mathis) Guthrie. She married Joseph McClarty (Mac) Nettles on Dec. 7, 1938 at the home of Rev. O. Morgan in Lexington. She was a member and past president of the Senior Citizens Association in Lexington. Her hobbies included bingo, gardening, fishing, playing dominoes, quilting and sewing. Mrs. Nettles owned and operated Audrey’s Cafe in Lexington from 1942-1948. She and her husband ran the cafe at the Lexington Livestock Commission from 1961-1968. She was employed in the cafeteria at Lexington ISD from 1968-1975. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Feb. 3, 2006; daughter, Carrie Rosalyn Nettles; grandson, Darvin “Chip” Nettles, Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Story, Orene Shelton and Lucille Williams; brother, Ernest Guthrie. Survivors include son, Darvin and Bonnie Nettles, Sr. of Canon City, CO; two daughters, Linda and David Wollard of Waco and Marsha Adams of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Tami and Michael Jiminez of Tomball, Dani and Alisha Nettles of Midland, Lorie and Christopher Lucero and Alise and Salvador Reyes of Canon City, CO, Jason Adams of Ledbetter, Jena and Jimmy Tally of Paige, Billy Wollard of Waco and Joseph and Kristi Wollard of Waco; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Association of Lexington, Lexington Log Cabins Association, Lexington Cemetery Association or to Lexington United Methodist Church.
