Services were held June 25 in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud with the Rev. Don Fulton officiating. Burial followed in Phillips Cemetery in Travis. Powell was born Oct. 23, 1912 in Walkers Creek community in Milam County to Henry and Addie Dodson Williams. She lived most of her life in the New Salem community in Falls County. She married Albert "Pete" Powell Dec. 28, 1931 and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Weldon Ray Powell, Sr., two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Survivors include son, Dean Powell of Robinson; daughters, Mardell Ribitzki of Forth Worth, Jo Ann Barrett of Cameron; Janie Hernandez of Belton; Wanda Borden of Rosebud and Debbie Eckman of Lott; sister, Mary Edith Spivey of Waco; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Scott & White Hospice or to the New Salem Baptist Church.
