Hertenberger, 86, of Pettibone Community of Milam County, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in an Austin hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Marak, with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial followed in the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Mr. Hertenberger, a retired chief operator for Monsanto in Texas City. He was born Nov. 16, 1919 in the Ad Hall Community of Milam County, to Rudolph and Caroline (Dresler) Hertenberger. He was a World War II Army veteran. He married Bertha Louise Smith on Dec. 9, 1948. After his retirement in the early 1980s, he and his wife moved to Milam County. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post 2010. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Louise Hertenberger of Pettibone; four sons, John B. Hertenberger and wife Maureen of Austin, Ray Carrol Hertenberger and wife Vicki of Texas City, Glen Arlen Hertenberger and wife Julie of Austin and Tim Hertenberger of Austin; daughter, Karen Louise Swanson and husband Donovan of Lake Jackson; two brothers, Lawrence Hertenberger of Texas City and Clarence Hertenberger of Richwood; five sisters, Leona Wohleb of Cameron, Ella Bergeron of Sealy, Clara Natek of Taylor, Dorothy Vybiral of Temple and Rita Mikulec of Cameron; 11 grandchildren, Stephen, Rachel, Sam, Ehren, Carl, Robert, Walter, Noel, Michelle, Donovan and Nancy; six great-grandchildren, Colin, Breanna, Robert C., Craig, Makenna and Courtney.
