    1. McLarty Hotel in Cameron
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hkB.2ACE/9769 Message Board Post: Family history relates that my GF, Wm. (Tell) McLarty, and his brother, David (Dave), owned and operated the 1st. hotel in Cameron c.1875-80(?). They were originally from Georgia and supposedly came thru town helping lay the first RR to Cameron and decided to stay. I have no more info re the hotel or dates of operation other than anecdotes written by my aunt re happenings at the hotel. In 1880, Tell married a Mikie Fielder, who was probably from the Milam Co. area, place of marriage unknown. At some point, they moved to a farm near Bremond where nine children were born between 10-14-1881 and 10-22-1900. Mikie died in 1896 and is buried at Bremond. Tell later moved with his 2nd. wife to Pancake in Coryell Co. and then to Hico in Hamilton Co., where he died in 1935 and is buried. Can anyone in Cameron or Milam Co. verify from town or county written or oral histories that my GF & his brother ran this hotel and whether it was the first in Cameron? I'll be glad to check it out myself if you could direct me to where to search or any source material that might contain such info. Is there a town or county historian I could write or call who might be able to help me? All help appreciated!
