McAtee was born in Richland Springs on April 8, 1920 to Francis Jerome and Bertha Herring McAtee (formerly of Jones Prairie). McAtee was a Rosebud High School graduate of 1937 and received a bachelor's of science in Business Administration from Hardin-Simmons University in 1947. He also played football there. He also served in the US Navy during World War II as a pilot, attaining the rank of Lieutenant in the US Atlantic Fleet Air Force. He started Gulf Coast Screw and Supply Co. Inc. in 1966 and owned and operated that until his retirement in 1998. He was member of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, current past president of State Fireman Fire Marshall Association and had also served as president from 1995 to 1996. He was also member of the Taylor Fire Dept. from 1962 to 1970 and a member of Taylor Volunteer Fire Dept. from 1970 to 1991. Mr. Davis was a director of Alcoa Cooperate Fire School and served as instructor of the school from 1977 to 2005. He was also instructor and project manager of Industrial Fire School at Texas A&M from 1977 to 2006. He worked as a supervisor of Plant Protection at Alcoa in Rockdale before retiring in 2003 after 33 years of services. Mr. Davis loved to play golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Yvonne Dorsey. Survivors include his wife Ramona Davis of Rockdale; four sons, Brian Davis of Champaign, IL, Trevin Davis of Taylor, Tim Davis of Rockdale and Clint Davis of Rockdale; daughter, Shannon Taylor of Lexington; one grandson, Collin Davis. However, I'm not sure of his third wife. I know of 7 children and that Anderson was a blacksmith. Does anybody know the place and date of his death? Also, which of his sons served in the Civil War?
