Hello families of Milam. This is a short snip of Brazos co. tx-Texas on line handbook. The families we have missing all show up in MILAM CO. after 1870. Where were they after 1860 and before 1880? Louis taylor dodd and his wife victoria asenath collins dodd were in Milam in 1885 and stayed there until his death in 1908. Brazos County (J-19), between the Navasota and Brazos rivers in southeast central Texas, is bounded on the northwest by Robertson County, on the east by Madison and Grimes counties, on the south by Washington County, and on the southwest by Burleson County. The center point of the county is at 30°40' north latitude and 96°18' west longitude. The county was named for the nearby Brazos River. (have the certificate) ** WE know Meshack COllins and Eliza were in GRIMES co. in 1870 (census) working in the sawmill-earning hard money (thanks to sharolyn Wood for this record) ** young girl, Victoria was working-- was in Limestone Co.1870 ( attorney- pendergast house-a maid).(census)--probably getting her room and board and possibly some money? Never have found the connection to the wife of pendergast who was a COLLINS.(thanks to Wanda Kite Johnson for this record) Lets say her brother: Henry COLLINS dies in March, in Burleson co. 1870? Mortality index, gives his name as henry h. collins age 24 born MS. dies of dropsey.(montgomery census, H, son of m. collins 1860) LUCY DODD AUTRY :book 3.5 burleson co.tx page 23 Mr. Lewis Autry married Lucy Ann Dodd on Oct.5, 1870, united by John N. Frizzell; AN Elizabeth Autry born 1799 dies in january of 1870 in burleson co. tx. (is she lewis autry's mom)? --------------- so, we can put lucy ann dodd AND HER KIDS? in Burleson in oct of 1870 and IF the henry collins who died ,(?)is a brother to our victoria asenath collins dodd....? then louis taylor dodd met victoria collins in Burleson co. ???? and married her in december of 1871 brazos co. tx.--------------------------------- DID they all move from Burleson co. tx in 1870 to Brazos by 1871 and Bandera by 1880? WE need a census lookup for Burleson Co. tx. 1870 -searching for Autry famiies, Collins and DODD. (POUNDS)-- WE can not find LUCY ANN DODD (louisa) and her son, Louis taylor dodd or grandchild mary bowen in 1870 anywhere in texas.??? Also missing is James Riley DODD and William Henry DODD the son. Where in 1870- are these kin? These two were in Walker co. in 1860.

Meshack's brother william collins married : Margaret (louise+Ellison) POUNDS 4. We believe Eliza Jane Pounds Collins to be Margaret's natural sister. 5. Meshack collins and eliza jane pounds collins were in st tammys parish in LA 1850. 6. Meshack COllins and eliza Janr Pounds collins were in Montgomery co tx in 1860. 7. Two children born in texas: victoria asenath collins dodd and a brother Henry Collins. WAR--Meshack signed up with his son, Johnson collins and son, Isham COllins and went to war with his twin brother shadrack collins jr. and his son, jasper collins. Meshack returned home after only 3 months ill and did not return. MOST of the COLLINS people lived in POLK co. tx at one time or another. 8. Meshack COllins and eliza jane pounds were in Grimes co. tx in 1870 working at the sawmill, and their oldest son and his new wife, sarah jane coursey collins were holding down the farm in montgomery co. in 1870. 9. By 1880 Meshack COllins and eliza jane pounds were living in williamson co. tx with their son johnson collins next door and had grand daughters visiting on census day. 10. Burials and death dates unknown. Marriage place and date unknown. Names in Milam co. that link to these people? The family will celebrate her life at a later date. Mrs. Quinney died Thursday, Sept. 5, in Lee County. A resident of the Tanglewood and Lexington area all of her life, she was born Oct. 5, 1907 in Lee County to Charlie and Emma (Nettles) Muston . She married Lafayette "Fady" Dean Quinney on Aug. 23, 1925, in Lee County. Mrs. Quinney had worked in retail sales in Lexington for IGA Store and Qualls Dry Goods. She was an avid seamstress and hobbyist. She did volunteer work for the Red Cross during World War II, and also for the PTA and Cub Scouts. Preceding her in death were her husband and a great-grandson, Josh Jones. Survivors are five sons, Sercey Dean Quinney and wife Juanita of Pasadena, Daniel Wayne Quinney and wife Pita of San Antonio, Allen Don Quinney and wife June of Lexington, Kennith D. Quinney and wife Jean of Rockdale, and Lester Doyle Quinney and wife Judith of Bryan; a special niece, Pat Lerche of Lexington; two sisters, Gladys Taylor of Lexington and Pauline Reynolds of Houston; also, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Calvin Springer officiating. Mrs. Cloud died Sept. 2, at a Corsicana nursing facility. A homemaker and a resident of Corsicana for one year, formerly of Marble Falls, she was born May 27, 1916, in Hartford, KY. She married Albert Cloud on Aug. 16, 1951, in Taylor. Preceding her in death were her husband on Oct. 13, 1998; her parents; and a sister, Ann Threadgill. Survivors are a son, Gene D. Kelly and wife Jeri of Corsicana; a stepson, J.D. Cloud and wife Sharon of Plano; also, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Rockdale resident since July 14, 1979, she was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Brookville, IN, to George B. and Gayle (Richardson) Roberts. She was raised in San Bernardino, CA, and she married Jerry C. Richards on Aug. 26, 1981, in Rockdale. Mrs. Richards had been a beautician since 1992 and in 1998 she opened and operated a beauty shop in Minerva until her death. She attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cameron and she enjoyed travelling, having travelled all over the world. She spent hours at the local library reading and doing research for her travels. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors are her husband, Jerry C. Richards of Rockdale; three sons, Daniel Ray Stidham of California, Russel C. Stidham of California and Jared N. Dodds of San Antonio; two daughters, Diana Gayle Hamby of Las Vegas and Jeri Glaser of Cameron; a brother, David Bennitt Roberts of Temple; two sisters, Patricia Kruck of Houston and Peggy Kellar of Fresno, CA; also, 8 grandchildren. "Shorty" Morris, 79, of Rockdale were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Paul Kethley of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Forest Park East in Webster. Mr. Morris died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at his home in Rockdale. A Rockdale resident for the past 20 years and formerly of Houston, he was born Oct. 2, 1922, in East Prairie, MO, to Roy F. and Vera E. (Golladay) Morris. He married Lynda Frances on Oct. 16, 1944, in San Marcos. Mr. Morris was a private airline pilot for Texas Eastern Transmission for 30 years before his retirement in 1982. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. Preceding him in death were his wife, Lynda Morris, on May 3, 1992; a daughter, Lynda Veliotis; a grandson, Dillon Spears; two sisters, Mildred Hearne and Betty Johnson; and a brother, Glenn Morris. Survivors are a son, Todd Morris of Austin; two daughters, Kay Sanders and husband Joe of Bacliff and Karen Spears and husband Chuck of Pasadena; also, four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Harold Lankford, Jim Ness, Andy Kirk, Tom Martin, Roy Noack and Bill Luckey.
