    1. [TXMILAM] MILLER, BLANKENSHIP, JOHNSON
    2. janemc
    3. I am looking for descendants of JEFF MILLER. I think his name may have been THOMAS JEFFERSON MILLER, born Sept. 1861 in Texas. His parents were HARVEY B. MILLER and CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY MILLER JOHNSON. I think that it is possible that JEFF MILLER was married a couple of times, first to a MARGARET who was born in 1866 and may have had children with Jeff named HARVEY MILLER, born March 1881 in Texas and a girl named IDA MILLER born Dec. 1888 in Texas. I have that MARGARET MILLER died on Jan. 13, 1893 and is buried at the Bryant Station Cemetery if this is the same one. Then I have as the second wife, a LULA N. who was born in April 1876 in Texas. I don't know if they had any children or not. JEFF MILLER was the son of my GG Grandmother, CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY MILLER JOHNSON, born in Miss. in 1838. Cecila Ann was married to HARVEY B. MILLER in October of 1859 in Nacogdoches Co., Texas and they had two children that I know of, a son named Jeff Miller and a daughter named SARAH MILLER or DONA MILLER. I have always wondered if there were two girls or if Dona's other name was Sarah. My paternal grandmother and her family all mentioned Dona Miller being married to SAM H. BLANKENSHIP who was a teacher there in BUCKHOLTS, TEXAS when they were kids. They all called him "Uncle Sam." I found a Sam Blankenship and his wife, Sarah Blankenship buried at the Rogers City Cemetery in Rogers, Texas in Bell County and I think these are the same people. I found IDA MILLER living with her grandparents, Redden H. Johnson and Cecila Ann Johnson in the 1900 census in Milam Co. and it stated that she was their grand daughter so I know she had to be the daughter of Jeff Miller. Jeff Miller was suppose to be in law enforcement in Buckholts. I would love to find some of his descendants. I have the names of the children of Sam H. Blankenship and Dona Miller Blankenship listed as: 1. Don R. Blankenship born Feb. 1883 in Texas. 2. Lulu L. Blankenship born Oct. 1885 in Texas. 3. Marion A. Blankenship born May 1889 in Texas. 4. Todd M. Blankenship born Jan. 1892 in Texas 5. Gail C. Blankenship born in July 1893 in Texas 6. Dallas Blankenship born Jan. 1896 in Texas 7. Ona Blankenship born May 1898 in Texas 8. Ollie L. Blankenship born Feb. 1900 in Texas 9. Dora Bell Blankenship born Nov. 1, 1887 in Texas and died May 14, 1888 and is buried at the Bryant Station Cemetery in Milam Co. I would love to hear from any of the descendants of any of these people. Thank you, Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net

    1. [TXMILAM] HOLDEN & ODOM families
    2. janemc
    3. I am looking for descendants of MARTHA HOLDEN and of GEORGE W. ODOM from Milam County. I think that Martha Holden is buried at the BRYANT STATION cemetery in Milam County. I am a descendant of the JOHNSON and FORTENBERRY families of Milam County. You won't necessarily see the name FORTENBERRY in this area that I know of unless it is from my GG Grandmother CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY MILLER JOHNSON'S brothers who might have lived there at one time. But the Fortenberry sisters married names were: MARY JANE MANN JOHNSON, REBECCA BUTLER, CECILA ANN MILLER JOHNSON and MARTHA HOLDEN. I have not found records in childhood of Martha Holden being my Cecila Ann's sister but from testimony of my paternal grandmother and both of her siblings, they were real close in growing up with Martha Holden whom they said was their grandmother's sister and to her daughter, Callie and her husband, George W. Odom. There are descendants from Mary Jane Mann Johnson, Rebecca Butler and myself representing Cecila Ann working together along with my Johnson family on this family. As it turns out, Mary Jane Mann married my GG Grandfather's brother, ARCHIE JOHNSON after her first husband, William T. Mann died and they lived in Milam County. They had a son named WILLIAM or WILLIE JOHNSON, William Edward Johnson, I believe it was. Evidently Mary Jane died before he was grown and he went to live with relatives and his Daddy, Archie Johnson moved away. I would love to hear from any of the descendants of any of this family. I have the names of Martha Holden's children through census records in Milam County and they are as follows: 1. Mattie Holden born Jan. 1855 in Louisana and married a Griffin. 2. William Holden born abt. 1854 in Louisana. 3. James T. Holden born abt. 1858-1860 in Arkansas and I think is buried at Bryant Station Cemetery. 4. Susan J. Holden born June 1, 1861 in Arkansas and died Oct. 8, 1880, I think and think she is also buried at Bryant Station. 5. Johnt T. Holden born Aug. 2, 1863 --1865 in Arkansas and died Sept.9, 1896 and I think he is also buried at Bryant Station. 6. Callie D. Holden born March 1866 in Arkansas and married to George W. Odom and is buried at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, Texas in Milam Co. I sure would love to hear from any of the descendants of any of these people and exchange information with you. My GG Grandparents were Cecila Ann Fortenberry Miller [She was formally married to Harvey B. Miller] Johnson and Redden H. Johnson. Thanks, Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net

Surnames: Sitman Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hkB.2ACE/5574 Message Board Post: Austin Daily Statesman, Tuesday October 5, 1897 Died Clarence Sitman at the Avenue Hotel at 12 noon on October 4, 1897. Remains will be interred at Rockdale, Texas today. Mr. Sitman was a native of Louisianna and was 24 years old at the time of his death. He was a cotton buyer by profession, employed for several years past by the firm of Iglehart and Company of this city. He leaves a widow, mother and two sisters who reside in this city. Parting must fall to each and all, but it is consolation when they occur to realize that the one who has gone before is worthy of the society of the best of earth who have paid the debt of nature. He was worthy of the parents who gave him birth; worthy of the wife and loving sisters, who mourn his loss and worthy of his friends and country. Gone but not forgotten. May we meet again amid fairer scenes and brighter skies, where disturbing sound or element will ever mar the harmony of rest, provided for his tired children by an all mighty and all-mighty God.

    3. Yes, there was another child and his gravemarker shows he is their son ... also there is Mattie Phillipson, niece of Henry and Gabrielle buried in the same cemetery ... her gravemarker had sunk 2-ft into the ground, we thought it was broken off but the more we dug, the more we found and we were able to re-set the marker so that it, and base, were above ground ... I have ordered a Confederate gravemarker for Henry based on his civil war military service ... when it arrives, it will be placed on his grave ... There is some Hebrew writing on the backside of his marker that I haven't been able to have translated ... I plan on getting a website together for the Jewish Cemetery as well as getting a Texas Historic Cemetery designation for the cemetery ... I am currently researching old newspapers for obit of those buried in the cemetery and I have found information for at least two unmarked graves in the cemetery ... He married Gabrielle Philipson, who was also born in Prussia. My records show 3 children, George does not appear, however, it seems likely that a 4th child could have been born. Minnie Goldsticker, born March 27, 1875, married Abram Heitler. Albert Goldsticker, born Oct. 21, 1877.
