Mr. Rackley died Monday, Feb. 21, at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. A Lexington resident since 1989, he was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Corpus Christi to Earl H. and Johnnie (Long) Rackley. He married Lorena Green on June 12, 1949, in Corpus Christi. Mr. Rackley was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He worked as a pumper for Southwestern Oil & Refinery Co. in Corpus Christi for 33 years, the last two years in security. Mr. Rackley was a member of First Christian Church in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lanelle Rackley. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store and later a meat locker plant in Cameron. Mrs. Crook was a member of First Christian Church in Cameron. Her sister Rowena Brand and a grandson Chris Matula also preceded her in death. Mr. Marshall was veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 as a staff sergeant, having served 20 years. He also worked as a Rockdale ISD bus driver for many years, retiring in the early 1990s. Mr. Marshall enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Marshall, on July 6, 1999; two sons, Freddy L. Marshall and Roy Don McGee; and his parents.
