He was born on Feb. 4, 1940 in Lexington to Talbert H. and Jessie Robbins. Mr. Robbins spent his life loving and taking care of his family and putting their needs first. His was a personality of patience, love and kindness. He retired from Superior Electric after 40-1/2 years, and worked for Reynolds Company from 2002-03. Mr. Robbins enjoyed woodworking. His father, Talbert H. Robbins preceded him in death. Mrs. Tandy was a resident of Rockdale for the past five years, formerly of Austin, she lived in Maine for seven years prior to moving to Rockdale. Mrs. Tandy worked as a sales clerk for Belltone Hearing Aids in Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bland J. Tandy and brother, Thomas Perry. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale with Pastor Jim Pemerton of Victory Outreach Church of Hearne officiating. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Pastor Eddie Brown of First Assembly of God officiating. Also, helping officiate were Gunar Gerthe and Shirley Rogers. He was born July 8, 1927 in Waco to B.C. and Lillian (Herring) Tynes. He married Dorothy Haeft on June 15, 1947 in Waco. Mr. Tynes was a resident of the Black Jack Community for the past 34 years and formerly of Waco. He was a charter member of the Black Jack Volunteer Fire Dept. and member of the First Assembly of God in Rockdale. Mr. Tynes retired in 1989 from Alcoa in Rockdale where he was a Millwright for 20 years. He was also a retired minister and was involved with starting and serving with area churches. He was involved with the prison ministry. Mr. Tynes attended Baylor University and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Tynes on Aug. 11, 1979; parents and brothers, T. B. and James Tynes. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Tynes of Black Jack; son, Calvin Tynes and wife Angie of Black Jack; daughter, Deborah Caldwell and husband Ron of Waco; six grandchildren, Paula Church, Rhonda Holder, Thomas Caldwell and wife Cynthia, Tina Tynes, Aaron Tynes and Isaiah Tynes; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachary, Amanda, Austin, Tyler and Brandon. On Sept. 2, 1971 he took mandatory retirement from Alcoa. He was member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Rockdale Masonic Lodge. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie White; parents; sons, David White Jr., Gary White and Gilbert White; daughter, Joyce Allen; son-in-law, Leonard Allen; grandson, Carl Allen. Mr. Westbrook served in the U.S. Navy for eight years from 1937-1945 and retired from Gifford Hill and was a life member of the Milano Masonic Lodge No. 605 AF&AM. He and his wife were members of Congress Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Westbrook and his wife loved to travel around the country and he shared this with his grandchildren each summer during their grade school years. He also enjoyed making movies and taking photos of his travels and of his grandchildren. Mr. Westbrook was an avid boxing fan and enjoyed creating memory books documenting boxing matches, family vacations and gatherings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Mae Westbrook; his parents, Thomas Claude and Annie Taylor Westbrook; and six brothers, Elbert, Bertram, Max, George, Berry and John Westbrook. She worked as a laundry care specialist for Renaissance Villa Nursing Home in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivoring was her son, Roy Tovar of Austin.

Graveside services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Mekolik, homemaker, was born Aug. 23, 1915 in Rockdale to John and Camille (McNamee) Fleming. She married Charlie Alfred Mekolik in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Alfred Mekolik; parents; sisters, Mary Pauline Towery, Iris Key, Ann Garrett and Johnnie Keeling; brothers, Preston and J. L. Fleming. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews including nephews, Johnny and Larry Fleming; niece, Judy Watson; great nieces, Donna Blinka, Connie Schielack and Cheryl Stroud; sisters-in-law, Gladys Fleming and Dorothy Fleming, both of Alice.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 11 at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Warren of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale. He was born July 13, 1922 in Port Arthur to Jesse Whitmire and Bessie Kirkindoll Whitmire. He married Ruth Slater on Nov. 17, 1941 at First Baptist Church of Port Arthur. Mr. Whitmire was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and was First Class Petty Officer. He was employed at Douglas Aircraft from 1941 to 1942 when he joined the Navy and was stationed on the small Pacific Island of Espirito Santo where he repaired military aircraft. He attended Lamar College and Texas Western at El Paso. Mr. Whitmire, a resident of Rockdale since 1952, worked as a supervisor in mechanical maintenance for Alcoa for 31 years from 1952 to 1983. He was member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. Mr. Whitmire loved his grandchildren, animals, singing, playing golf, and working with wood. He designed and constructed shelves, picture frames and furniture from old barn wood. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Whitmire of Rockdale; son, Kenneth Whitmire of Austin; two daughters, Janet Anderson and husband Mac of Kerrville and Karen Matous and husband Wesley of Temple; five grandchildren, Kerry Lynn Sagebiel-Murphy and husband John of Tuscon, AZ, Chris Sagebiel of The Redlands, CA, Amy Roundtree of San Antonio, Kyle Matous of Temple and Allison Matous of Temple. Pallbearers included Mac Anderson, Chris Sagebiel, Wesley Matous, Kyle Matous, Kenneth Whitmire, Ben Easterling, John Shoemake and John Michael Weed III. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hilltop and Summit, Rockdale.
