Well, I have been busy the last few weeks working with the Minerva Cemetery Assoc. and the Milam County Genealogy Soc. on a Texas Historic Cemetery Dedication Application ... This has consisted of going to the cemetery and taking an inventory / index of all of the marked graves, taking photos of each grave, collecting information on unmarked graves, searching newspaper obits, death certificates, family records ... The burial information and photos will be placed on-line for researchers once it is all collected and photos scanned ... It has been a great volunteer effort by over 20 folks who live in Milam Co. and/or have traved from out of town ... So, I have not been able to do too much on the Milam Co. TXGenWeb site but with summer, it has been a slow time-period anyway .... = = = = Friday, June 10th, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - I will be working with the Minerva Cemetery volunteers searching the records at the Milam County Clerk's Office ... Saturday, June 11th, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - I will be working with the volunteers at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library in Rockdale searching for obituaries .... If you would like to come out and volunteer to learn how to do these type of record searches, please stop by either day .... = = = = VOLUNTEER TYPING PROJECTS AVAILABLE Obituaries from the Rockdale Reporter 1996 - 2000 ... these will need to be re-typed so they can be added to our large collection of on-line obituaries on the RootsWeb Message Board for Milam County .... Surnames: Richardson, Hart Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hkB.2ACE/8684 Message Board Post: I am researching a connection between Josiah Hart and Abram Richardson Families which are both found in the 1850 Milam County Census. I am attempting to judge the distance between their residences by their proximity in the census. Phebe and Abram Richardson were counted October 1,1850 on page 11A. Also on that page, the enumerator begins counting soldiers which I believe to be at Bryant's Fort. The soldiers are counted on pages 11B,12A and 12B on October 1st and 3rd. It appears that counting continues on the 3rd with families on page 13A. Page 13B , counted on October 5th includes the Josiah Hart Family. Is it reasonable to assume that these families were in close proximity? How far could an enumerator travel in this area in a few days? Also, is it reasonable to assume that these families were both in close proximity to Bryant's Fort?
