My grandfather,Russell Gowl Swiger, lived in Midland for several years,not sure how many.This James Vance Gowl was born in the county just above the one my grandfather was born in,so,James could be Russells father-in-law. I really have no ties to Midland now as my grandfather had moved to Burleson and died in 1971. Here is a question not tied directly to genealogy but could you tell me if there was an Army Airbase in Midland during wwll and if they did any paratrooper training there? I am not completly alien to the area,I lived in Odessa until I was nine years old. Thanks to the list once again. I found the following: James Vance Gowl, born iin Edgar Co. IL, July 29, 1872, died in Midland , TX Oct. 17, 1940, buried in Fairview Cemetery. There probably will be an obit for this date.
