I am slowly taking on a huge project and am asking for help. As some of you know, there are many county records that have been microfilmed by the state and are held in depositories around the state. I have access to the Baylor library that houses the McLennan County records, and am slowly beginning to transcribe the marriage records that are available. Are there any of you that are out there that would be willing to transcribe some of these records into a computer spreadsheet if I copied and sent them to you? The library will let me copy 25 sheets a day, free of charge, and I really would love to see the records from 1850 - 1910 on the computer. The records I have seen have all been typewritten and very easy to read. If you are interested in helping, please email me. I will be posting them on the net as transcribed and will let the list know when and where they are available. If you would like to see what is available on microfilm, and available for interlibrary loan, go to: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/local/mclennan.html Carol Couch
Carol, perhaps this information will save you some work and you can concentrate on another project. Appreciate the work you did on the Mart records. McLennan County marriage records, 1850-1870, have been submitted to the McLennan county webpage and should be on line within a few days. Central Texas Genealogical Society has published McLennan County Marriage Records through 1901 and the books are available for purchase from CTGS.
