I am looking Birdie Elaine Baggett, b. 12-1-1948. Her mother was Helen Thrasher, her father Gilbert Maurice Baggett. The name Birdie comes from Maurice's (as we called him) mother. He is my dad's cousin. This is tricky. Only recently in the last few years, after some deaths, has this been talked about. Maurice is now deceased but his wife still lives. I surely can't ask her anything about this, if ya know what I mean. Birdie Elaine is the result of what the family calls a scandal and the situation was only talked about in hushed tones. She was named after Maurice's mother in the attempt for recognition of the child. Birdie Elaine and her mother were ignored, as if they didn't exist. I believe my dad's cousin 'done right' by her, but ultimately returned to his wife and kids. Birdie Elaine falls between two half siblings, one b. Oct. 25, 1945 and the one under her b. Aug. 24, 1949. They are both alive and thus will be nameless. If ya do the math you'll understand why I cannot ask Maurice's widow anything as well as why the family treated her so shoddily. Wrong is wrong, but I have a problem with children being ostracized for thier parents' wrong-doing. Afterall, a child does! n't ask to be born. God just puts'em here. I really don't how to find her. Or where to begin. I got her b.d. and mother's name from Tx. Birth Records before Rootsweb pulled them. Irregardless of whatever happened, she was born a part of this family. I know times were different then, but I'd like to know about this long lost cousin. My dad's sister and my mom don't even know what happened to them, just what happened! I have no way of knowing if Helen later remarried and perhaps the step-father adopted Birdie Elaine, thus changing her last name, or if her mother moved them off. If anyone out there knows anything about Birdie Elaine Baggett or her mother, Helen Thrasher, I'd like to know. Teresa Parrish
