They started the conference by playing Central in Temple. North was nosed out 7-0. This was a hard fought fame, but Central had a fast T that North could not keep up with. North has also played another game which was with East. North won this game by a score of 14-0. after a slow first half North came back in the last half to score two touchdowns. Jimmy Wood did outstanding running in both games. Both touchdowns in the east game were made by Jimmy Wood. Harry Clair and Bill Montgomery were in on most of the tackles. The starting for the games were as follows; ends, Harry Clair, George Marlow, Eddie Parson; tackles, Bill Montgomery, Charley Bailey; guards, Albert Levy, Schuler Nelson, Leroy Lewis; centers, Elmer Donaldson, Lee Harrington; backs, Jack Jordon, Alton Boles, Joe Bob Gough, Jimmy Phipps, Joe Lee Stokes. The rest of the squad is as follows: Leo Bradshaw, Jim Pate, James Balch, Allen Lavender, Eldon Brigance, Douglas MacArthur, Jack Douglas, John Zemanek, David Meers, John Savage, Billy Slauter, Paul Dickson, C.B. Johnson, James Moran, Fred Michel, Jerry Harris, James Sewell, Dan Horne, Jimmy Schrade, Hubert Bateman, Charlie Bennett, Jerry Holley, Mickey Walker, Neil Pack and L.D. Harding. South's game was rained out. ____________________________________ THE EAGLES NEST Sixty-six boys came for football this season. Mr. Price started late in August to get his team in shape for a tough season-as a result the team is in good shape. The one letter man back from last year's team which won Central Texas Championship is Albert Levy, who is back at guard fighting to help bring the team in first place. Three new players who are on the starting team are Billy Montgomery, 9B from Speegleville; Eddy Parson, 9B from West Junior; Henry Thompson, 9A from East Junior. They are proving to be some of North's best players. To prove that brains are just as evident in football as brawn, two first string men have written football ballads in 9B English that have received worthy comment. They are End and Tackle, Bill Montgomery and Harry Clair. It seems that "fancy" Jack Jordon, first string quarterback for the Eagles brings luck to our team by wearing a red shirt before every game. Rumor says he didn't wear it before the Central game which we lost 7-0. What about it, Mr. Jordon? Mr. Price has learned from bitter experience not to trust even his Managers (Woodrow McCasland, Bubba Hulke, Robert Jacobs, and Tommy Abbott) too far. That is-to the extent of being custodians of his fried chicken supper. They proved themselves, on the way to Temple, to be fast and furious chicken eaters. _____________________________ It is more true to say that our opinions depend on our lives and habits, than to say that our lives and habits depend on out opinions. -F.W.
