I got the following email outside the group.: <<Hello Teresa > I am some what confused, I am getting message from you > that has nothing to do with genealogy. I am only interested > in message that pertain to genealogy in McLennan County. > Waco is my home town from which I live very very far > away. Did I miss something when I signed up for this > message board. > Thanks. > Lacy sends... I never thot I was straying from the geneaological path. My little tidbits are part of Waco's history. There is no more North Junior or St. John's and 1st Baptist is one of Waco's oldest churches. I replied to Lacy that I sent the things thru I did because first, I see them as local history, and second, I thot one may gain some insight to a relative if there named appeared in the booklet (Treasured Thougths) or newspaper (Northern Light). Correct me, folks, if I am wrong, but isn't geneaology more than names and dates and places? I asked Lacy, "Wouldn't like to know what a favorite quote was from a relative? Or what was going on in the school they attended? Maybe thier name appeared in print. Wouldn't you want to know what a relative's favorite recipe was they sent in for a booklet?" Folks, I think it just makes the ancestor's a bit more personal. Add's to them some dimension so they are not just a name and date on the family tree. Any thoughts? Hi Teresa. As you know, I usually am quite and just read but......you are doing a good job--theres always got to be people that don't get it! Genealogy and History are hand in hand. I read everything you emailed and looked madly for some of my kin--didn't find any but because I didn't find any didn't make me want to run the effort down--BEcause I'm sure there are those that found their relatives. Got anything on Columbus Ave. Methodist Church?? :>) Looking for Charity Huggins, her daughter Rachel Owen Huggins Norris, her husband William and William Gaston Huggins. Remember--you have a good group going and you ARE doing a good job. Thank you for all your efforts.
