Add three teaspoons cocoa to one half. Roll together as jelly roll. Roll out one layer and lay other on top and roll together. Stir in 1 well beaten egg. Sift flour and baking powder. Blend with first ingredients to make a stiff dough, Chill well. If dough too soft to roll add flour, roll thin. Add 2 teaspoons baking powder, and sift together three times. 2. Add 1 tablespoon grated orange rind to 4 tablespoons shortening and cream thoroughly. Add 1 cup sugar gradually and cream well. 3. Add 1 egg (unbeaten) and beat until light and fluffy. 4. Add flour, alternately with 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 cup orange juice, a little at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Pour into a greased pan 15x10 inches. 5. Cover with thin layer of meringue made by beating sugar into 1 stiffly beaten egg white. Sprinkle with cocoanut. 6. Bake in moderate oven (350 F.) 25 minutes. Cool. Cut into strips. Makes two dozen tea stripes. These tea cakes are also attractive cut in diamon-shaped pieces. -Ruba Walters ************************ Walnut Sticks 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup sifted flour 2 eggs well beaten 1/4 tsp salt 1 cup chopped nuts Add sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla extract to the eggs and mix well. Add nuts. Spread in greased shallow baking pan 9 by 12 1/2 inches and bake in moderate oven (375 degrees F.) for 20 or 25 minutes. While still warm, cut into strips 4x1 inches and remove from pan.
