Stir in beaten eggs, lemon peel and vanilla, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour once, then measure. Resift with salt, baking powder and soda. Add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk. Then add Quaker of Mother's Oats, mixing well. Drop from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderate oven (375) for 10-12 minutes. 3/4 cup dark corn syrup may be used in place of 1/2 cup of the brown sugar, reducing the milk to 1/2 cup. -La Rue Samford ****************** Butterscotch Cookies 1/2 cup shortening 1 tsp. soda 2 cups brown sugar 1 Tsp. cream tartar 2 eggs 3 cup pastry flour or 1/16 tsp. salt 2 1/4 bread flour 1/2 vanilla nuts and raisins Cream shortening with sugar, add beaten eggs and vanilla.
