I remember my mom and dad driving all the way from Ogelsby to shop at Piggly Wiggly back in the 50's. We also went to the automatic laundry in Waco. Once a week we drove in to shop and do our laundry. I was about 4 and my sister 2. Mom always tied the warm clothes from the dryer up in a clean sheet. My sister and I would fall asleep on the warm bundle on the way home. In the summer , mom did her laundry on a wringer type washer and hung them up. But not in the winter.
