You may wonder why I am listing these. Most were, I guess, what you'd call 'Mom & Pop' operations. The only 'chains' were the A&P, Piggly Wiggly, and Safeway. Most all bear the name of the owner. Maybe someone will recognize a family name. Maybe someone doesn't realize or know for sure thier family was in Waco in 1939. This could very well help. I know Hwy 67, from seeing an old sign, run out near the current Baker Ranch in China Spring. There used to be an old road sign still there but now is gone and either the Bakers or a neighbor has included the old road as part of thier ranch. Can anyone tell us just how that hwy ran?
