Could the Highway 67 be a misprint for Highway 6? Memorial Drive in South Waco did intersect Highway 6 as it was known before S.Valley Mills Dr. George R. Diamonds store at 1501 Speight was before my time, but it was a favorite Hamburger Cafe when I was a kid. My future wife worked there as a curb-hop in early 50s. John Hartgrove.
I am incl the group in this so maybe we'll set some gray cells on fire!! LOL the pull out map w the 1958 comprehensive plan doesn't say where or what hwy 67 was. it shows memorial and the rd in fr of the v.a. as 'government dr'. the map shows the proposed new shore line for the lake and what would therefore go under.I shows Memorial running from the v.a. to valley mills dr., like it does now. of course then it was hiwy 6. Wondered if 6 and 67 shared the rd, like some do, and you have to go a ways before they separate agian. I'll ask moma. She says :"thru china springs to valley mills also to waco it used to cross the old lake or at leaast come close to it.">> After asking her if it could have merged with 6 for a spell she said it was likely then added: "It crossed it somewhere along the way. If I rwmember right You would tkke Hwy 6 towar Valley mills and somewhere along the way it split and Hwy67 went toward China Spring then on up toward FtWorth." >> so we know it went northward. when asked where it went southward she said: "I'm not sure. Your granfather said that that road meandered all over the place you really had to know where you were going on it or you would stay lost.".
