    3. I believe it was this past Thursday PM, I tuned in to the the VERY-DRESSED UP MCLENNON Co. site---it is awesome...it already DOES have those early marriage records and much, much more...all should be proud of all the effort and work put into this excellent site! 2. Diane Elaine Wilson
    3. Peggy Duty is correct - Marriage Records are on the way to the TxGenWeb McLennan County site, thanks to Central Texas Genealogical Society, Inc. I have just received the TxGenWeb - McLennan County site - and have transferred much of the information from the old site to the new one-- now I can start adding the more recently submitted data - which INCLUDES McLennan County Marriages... I have received the file from the CTGS Web Committee and hope to have it online this afternoon or early tomorrow. I also hope that many of you will submit files to this site - I can convert most any format and really want to work with everyone!!! You will be given credit ("submitted by...") for anything you submit - and I can also provide a link back to your pages - so long as they are not commerce oriented. I hope to have your support my effort to make this page chock-full of genealogical information!!! Thanks -- feel free to e-mail me at anytime.

    3. For all of you that have responded, THANK YOU!! I have been overwhelmed with offers for help, and am thinking of expanding what is transcribed so everyone can have a chance to help and we can have tons of McLennan County information online. I will be contacting each of you individually within the next couple of days. In the meantime, I have transcribed the first set of records from 1850 - 1855 and you can find them online in two different places. Enjoy browsing the records at: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/tx/county/mclennan/marriages/ or http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tx/mclennan/vitals/marriages/1850m54.tx t Thanks again, Carol Couch

    3. Carol, perhaps this information will save you some work and you can concentrate on another project. Appreciate the work you did on the Mart records. McLennan County marriage records, 1850-1870, have been submitted to the McLennan county webpage and should be on line within a few days. Central Texas Genealogical Society has published McLennan County Marriage Records through 1901 and the books are available for purchase from CTGS. 3. Betty Young of the Sonoma County Genealogical Society Computer Users Group sent this message today. I made a brief visit before sending this message. This is a NARA Site designed to help us with our research adventure with the 1930 Census. THANKS to Betty for sending the URL, and a BIG THANK YOU!!!! to NARA for this research tool. "Here's a "census locator" that you will need to find your folks in the 1930 census. At least you can do this part of the work at home, and go to the Archives knowing what rolls you will need to look at. <http://1930census.archives.gov> Good Luck, you'll need it! 1. Georgianna (Shepard) Strahan
    2. Sharon C. Goodwin
    3. Georgianna was my gr-grandmother and I believe she died in McLennan County, in 1871-1872. Her husband was John Neil Strahan. I have searched for information on her for several years and all I have proven is the date of her marriage to John (1/1/1860). I do know that they lived for a time in Waco where at least one of their children, John Neil, Jr., was born. One of her daughters, Mattie Catherine Jones, is buried in Fletcher Cemetery. I have not been able to obtain a copy of the 1870 McLennan County Census, but she should be on it, including her nativity and age. Can you help me out? Thank you, Sharon Goodwin

    3. I am slowly taking on a huge project and am asking for help. As some of you know, there are many county records that have been microfilmed by the state and are held in depositories around the state. I have access to the Baylor library that houses the McLennan County records, and am slowly beginning to transcribe the marriage records that are available. Are there any of you that are out there that would be willing to transcribe some of these records into a computer spreadsheet if I copied and sent them to you? The library will let me copy 25 sheets a day, free of charge, and I really would love to see the records from 1850 - 1910 on the computer. The records I have seen have all been typewritten and very easy to read. If you are interested in helping, please email me. I will be posting them on the net as transcribed and will let the list know when and where they are available. If you would like to see what is available on microfilm, and available for interlibrary loan, go to: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/local/mclennan.html Carol Couch

    2. Peggy Duty
    3. In the early 1930's, William L. Butler lived at 314 N. 7th, according to the Waco City Directory. This address would have been near the corner of N. 7th and Columbus Avenue. Peggy Duty Teresa Parrish wrote: > Is there anyone who can tell me what the address was, or may still be if the house is still standing, for a boarding house said to have been run by my great-grandfather and his second wife, William L. and Florence Butler, somewhere on Columbus Ave.? They likely would have lived there in the mid-late 1920's thru the late 1930's. His former wife, my great-grandmother, and her second husband were divorced in June 1938 and sometime thereafter her and great-grandpa remarried. I have no idea if Florence died or if her and great-grandpa divorced. > Teresa Parrish > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

    3. Does anyone on the list have connections to this family? I am researching my husbands family and looking for his gggrandfather William WARD, father of Sarah D. WARD ( his ggrandmother ) who was born Dec.1859 in TX and married Sebron Green BERRY in Navarro Co. TX in Jan. 1879, died Jan. 1932 Wichita Falls, Wichita Co. TX. I have no information except that her death certificate stated her fathers name was Wm.WARD and the information she gave about her parents birth states on the census. I found the following family in Waco, McLennan Co, TX in 1870 William WARD 52 KY Teacher Sarah 41 Indiana Louise 14 TX f Sarah 11 TX f James 9 TX m Ephraim??? 6 TX m William JAGAR 36 Prussia Butcher Nancy JAGAR 16 TX f next door a house full of BERRY's BERRY William 29 Tenn farmer Annie 33 TX Annie E 18 TX John G. 15 TX William 13 TX Sam H. 11 TX Eliza 7 TX 4 servants 2 male 2 female all "M" all born TX I really think this is our WARD family. Sarah D. said in 1900,1910, and 1920 that her mother was born in Indiana. Of course she said her father was born in N.C. once and in MO the other two times, but this is the only family I have found that anything matched.
