    3. There is a Robinson Cemetery in McLennan County. It's in the community of Robinson, just a few miles out of Waco. There's a cemetery sign on the main thoroughfare in Robinson. Both times I've been there, it has been neatly mowed. If you can't find a map online, the people in the public library or the people in the Map Office at the courthouse can direct you. Just in case you aren't from Texas, a word of warning. You'll be thirsty before you finish walking the entire cemetery so bring some water. You can also use the water to rinse moss off tombstones--just pour it on and give it time to soak in. Wear bug repellant and have something to treat insect bites with. I was in a well-groomed McLennan County cemetery yesterday and the fire ants were still very active. Antihistamine cream or meat tenderizer are the best treatments I've found for ant bites. 3. I am trying to find out what might have brought my great grandparents to McGregor, TX around 1895-1986. They were from Tennessee but sometime after 1894 (when a daughter was born in TN) they went to TX (still trying to figure out what kind of travel they took) and had a son there in 1896. Then they are found again in Tennessee when another son is born in 1899. I have no idea when they arrived (bef 1896) or how long they stayed (left bef 1899). Was there some time of employment movement that made people come there for work or something. My great grandfather was in the lumber business...logging, etc. James Spivey (Spiva) b. 1864 GA m. Mary Elizabeth Rhea b. 1865 TN. They both died in Oregon. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Linda (in Oregon)

    2. Linda May
    3. I just viewed the 1920 Census for McClennen Co. and found a Spivey there. I was wondering if anyone might know something about this family. I think this may be my great grandfather's 1/2 brother. HH#110/103 Spivey Luther, age 36m head of household was renting the house he lived in. States he was born in GA, father b. GA, mother b. GA. Wife's name I cannot make out at all, but she is 25 yoa, b. TX, father b. KY, mother b. TN. Children listed here are: Edgar, 7 yoa, b. TX J. T. 4 yoa, b. TX Juanita, 2 yoa, b. TX It states that Luther was a Foreman for "Section RR", not sure what that means but it sounds like something that has to do with the railroad. I don't know what railroad he would have been working for at that time. I went into the McLennen web site but did not find anything except 1 obit that had to do with a Spivey. Can anyone help in reference to where I can find prior census's that might show if he was there and who was in his family? (I was looking in Texas to see why my great grandfather and his wife left TN aft 1894 and before 1896, then after they had a son there (in 1896) they returned to TN and had more children. My great grandfather's brother, Luther was b. aft 1883, bef. 1886 and I think that maybe my g gfthr came to see him and that's he came to be in TX.) Thank you. Linda

    3. Hi Diane, A free lookup in the TX death records can tell you when and where he died. And his death certificate will tell you how his name appears on his death certificate, the name of his parents, where he's buried, the funeral home that handled his burial, etc. Go to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission web page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and e-mail your request to them. Their response will also tell you how to get his death certificate. 3. Diane, if he died in McLennan Co., then you can order the death certificate from the County Clerk. It will cost only about $10-12, I think. Following is the gen website--there are links for look-ups and lots more. Good luck in your search: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txmclenn/
