Dear Friends, I am on the verge of starting a new project that will hopefully benefit McCulloch County. Everyone likes to browse through old picture albums and books and find pictures of their hometown the way it use to look years ago. People enjoy seeing photos of their ancestors. Others look to see how men, women, and children dressed back then. Men are moved by pictures of old cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Women light up when they see a picture of a doll they use to play with when they were children. All these things are a part of life. They made us who we are. Pictures bring tears, happiness, joy, and sometimes pain. They make us think of simpler times. I want to put together McCulloch County's past in pictures, but I need your help. I'm not asking for monetary donations. I need 3" Angle D - 3 ring Notebooks. Lots of them. Any color will do. 8 1/2" X 11" clear, top loading, archival quality sheet protectors are a must. 20lb. white copy paper for inserts to keep color copies from touching and help give support would be helpful. Labels are good. Last but not least, I need 8 1/2" X 11" color copies of your old pictures and photos enlarged to fill sheet. That means one picture per sheet on one side. (Please do not send originals, unless you are giving them to me) Also, there should be a page explaining what the picture is about, if known. If people want to share their family history to go along with their pictures that would be appreciated and welcomed. I am not requesting that you send money, however; if you want to make a donation you can. It would help in covering the cost of materials needed to make this a success. I am donating my time and energy toward making this something to be proud of for my hometown. When the project is finished I will hand it over to the Brady Museum. If there is money left over, it will be given to the museum. I say color copies, because color mode brings out a clearer, more true to original picture on black and white pictures than regular black and white mode does. So please make sure you ask for color copies even though your picture is black and white. I want all kinds of pictures. If it was taken in McCulloch County, I want a copy of it. Please help me with this. I think it's a grand thing to do for our County. E-mail me with your thoughts and suggestions. Kathleen F.
