He was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Ganado, to the late Lowell Isaac and Mary Idell Kay Newsom. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors: daughter, Melinda Newsom of College Station; sons, Billy Newsom of the Dallas area, David Newsom and Kevin Newsom, both of College Station; sister, Clara Matura of Wadsworth; and two grandchildren. Family visitation will be 5-7 p.m. tonight at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, the Revs. Lee Watson and Paul Goodman officiating.
