Wilson Dec. 6, 1921 - May 26, 2006 Alice L. Wilson, 84, of Palacios, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2006 following a lengthy illness. She was born December 6, 1921 in Houston, Texas and was the only child of Ira A. and Victoria Turnage Murphy. Alice graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1937 and from the University of Texas at Austin in 1941. While at the University, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. On December 20,1940, she married S. Woodrow Wilson of San Saba, Texas. Alice was a Past Matron of the Palacios Chapter of the Eastern Star, an organizer and Past Mother Advisor of the Palacios Order of Rainbow Girls, and an Honorary Member of the Palacios Harmonie Club. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palacios. She was an avid card player, and enjoyed playing bridge with the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club for many years. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and drinking coffee with family and friends at the family-owned business, the Palacios Pharmacy, until the business closed in 1996. She is survived by: her husband of 65 years, "Woodie" Wilson; daughter, Marion Holcomb of East Wenatchee, Washington; and a daughter-in-law, Neva Wilson of Palacios. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kimberley Cooper, of El Campo, Rhonda Huitt of Palacios, Steven Wilson of Danevang, Lori Armatta of Wadsworth, Jay Holcomb of Phoenix, Arizona, Dwight Holcomb of Los Angeles, California, and Amy Holcomb of East Wenatchee, Washington. In addition, she had 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Roger D. Wilson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 28, between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at the Palacios First United Methodist Church on Monday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. with the Revs. Ray Wells and Charlie Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.
