He was born December 29, 1925 in Yoakum, Texas to Edmund and Mary Maresh Malek. He retired in 1988 as foreman of Channel Industries Gas/Tenneco after over 40 years in the Oilfield Business. He served in WWII as Army Staff Sergeant where he was awarded Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 39 years, Delores Stelzel Malek of Bay City; daughter, Monica Chumchal and husband Kenneth of El Campo; son, James Malek and fiancee Kay Kurtz of East Bernard; five grandchildren, Cody William Chumchal, Paige Danielle Chumchal, Justin William Malek, Tyler Jacob Kurtz, Emily Faith Kurtz. He was preceded in death by: his parents; five sisters, Mary Janis, Albina Vahalik, Toni Morris, Alma Holy, Lillian Bilicek; and two brothers Edwin and Frank Malek. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Danny Pless, David Pless, Hans Stelzel, Ronnie Faul, Jr., Henry Morris and Randy Chumchal. His grandchildren and former co-workers will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross School Foundation, PO Box 571, Bay City, TX 77404; American Heart Association, or charity of your choice.
