McCamley Former Resident, Dies in Wyoming Mrs. E. H. Highley received word this morning from Mrs. Cortes of Casper. Wyo., that her father, W. L. (Bo) McCamley, had passed away. He will be buried in Casper, Wyo., Friday. Residents of this city who have lived here several years, will remember Mr. McCamley, as he had lived in Bay City many years before moving to Wyoming many years ago. He is survived by two daughters and one son. The Matagorda County Tribune October 14, 1948 Matagorda County, Texas Former Resident Here Succumbs After Short Illness Mr. William Leake McCamly, age 72, native of Matagorda County passed away at the National Memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyo., on Thursday, October 14, after a short illness. Mr. McCamly had been a resident of Casper for many years and was widely known. During his residence there he was active in all civic organizations and agencies. He had been associated with the Texas Company since 1911 and had been a consignee in his district since 1926. In addition to his gasoline business, Mr. McCamly was also president of Guaranty Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. McCamly, known to his friends as "Bo," was born in Matagorda County in 1876. In 1901 he and Miss Ada Rugeley were married in Bay City. Mrs. McCamly passed away in 1913 [1914]. He is survived by one son, A. H. [R.] McCamly of Casper and two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Cortes of Houston and Mrs. Thomas Wheaton of Casper. There are five grandchildren, Jane and Earl Cortes, Shirley McCamly and Thomas and William Wheatley [Wheaton]. Mr. McCamly was a member of the Masons and the Shrine, the Elks lodge, and the Casper Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Salvation Army advisory board, and had served on the Natrona County welfare board. He was appointed to the welfare board in 1935 and resigned the position in 1937 because of the pressure of business. During most of that period he served as chairman of the board. Mr. McCamly also served on the board of trustees of Natrona County Memorial Hoospital for a number of years and was president of the board for one year. He was a member of the Episcopal church. Funeral services were conducted Friday after at 2 p.m., at the Horstman - Gay chapel, with the Rev. Marcus Hitchcock of St. Marks Episcopal Church officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
