Surnames: Kalkomey, Seyer Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/plB.2ACI/3701 Message Board Post: Charlie Fritz Kalkomey, Jr. Nov. 20, 1921 - April 4, 2006 Charlie Fritz Kalkomey, Jr. was born on November 20, 1921 on a farm in the Big Creek area, about 12 miles south of Richmond, Fort Bend County, Texas, to Charlie Fritz Kalkomey, Sr. and Emma Sophie Henryette Seyer. He passed away April 4, 2006 at his residence in Richmond, Texas. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps that same month. The 2nd Marines moved on to Tarawa, where on his 22nd birthday, he was wounded in combat. He received a Purple Heart for his service, and was Honorably Discharged on December 14, 1944. In 1950, he went to work for S. A. Russell and Associates, a local Rosenberg engineering and surveying company. On August 23, 1961, Charlie received his Texas registration as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. In 1970, he started Charlie Kalkomey Surveying, Inc. Charlie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg since 1951, where he had served as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Clerk of Session and Treasurer. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rosenberg with the Rev. Jack Livingston and Charles A. Kalkomey, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. For those wishing, memorial donations may be made in memory of Charlie to the First Presbyterian Church, P. O.
