He was born November 11, 1926, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to the late Paul and Floy Cowan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong electrician. He and his late wife, Freda, spent many hours fishing up and down the Gulf Coast. He enjoyed football, gardening and reading. Everyone loved him and he will be missed. He is survived by: his son, Billy James Cowan Jr. and wife Debbie of Bay City; son-in-law, Carlos Galvan and Norma of Blessing; grandchildren, Jason and Natalie Galvan, Charles Galvan, Misty and Daryll Davis, Janet and Jerry Johnson, Chris and Kari Galvan, Chuck Cowan and Brandi, Christie Cowan and fiancé, Stewart Hutson; step-grandchildren, Jason Sciba and wife Holly, Tres Ansley and Jod Ansley; sister, Pat Wheeler of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his wife, Freda Cowan; daughter, Jami Pat Galvan; and brother-in-law, Dale Wheeler. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Blessing. Bay City Tribune March 5, 2006 Matagorda County, Texas
