Church, Bay City, with the Rev. J.T. Garnett, eulogist. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery. He was born May 3, 1916, to Robert Windle and Lizzie Carter Windle, and passed away March 1, 2006, in Houston, Texas. He worked with the U.S. Postal Service in San Francisco, California, until retirement. Upon moving to Bay City, Texas, he worked with the Matagorda County Health Department for a number of years. Survivors include: a step-son, George Tanner, Jr. and Marva of San Francisco, California; four grandchildren: Gayle Perry and Ronald of Missouri City, Paula Graves and Eric of Valejo, California, George Tanner, III and Margaret of Richmond, California, and Lartress Tanner and Lynn of Arlington, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Corey and Crystal Perry, Barry Johnson, Neil Tanner, Trezlyn Williams, Tedra Grogans and George Tanner, IV; and three great-great grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Katie Windle, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Q.V. Petitt Windle; three sisters, Ida Compton, Mabel Ward and Tennie Windle; and three brothers, Howard Windle, Raymond Windle and Ben Windle.
