She was born October 31, 1957, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Otis Henry and Doris Elaine Gest Birkner, Sr. Donna was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a quiet person devoted to her family and friends. Her generous nature of volunteering in time of need was a blessing to all who knew her. Donna’s sweet nature and strong determination to live life to its fullest was a testament that nowhere can we find what our Souls need ... but in God. Survivors include: her husband, Gregg, son, Christopher Sutherland, and mother-in-law, Betty Sutherland, all of Wadsworth; sisters, Cindy Duncan and husband Terry, and Linda Burgess and husband Larry, all of Bay City, Texas; brothers, Otis Birkner, Jr of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Charles Birkner and wife Jill of Tomball, Texas; nieces, Shelly Duncan Graves, Sharon Duncan Jensen, Lauren Duncan, Kaili Birkner, Rylee Birkner, Maycee Baish and Anna Jensen; nephews, Rob Baish, Zachry Birkner and Taylor Birkner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John D. Sutherland. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Bay City, with the Rev. Bill Servis and the Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bret Attaway, Harry Easley, Ricky Lyle, Rob Baish, Kevin Jensen and Stan Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles, Zachry, Taylor and Otis Birkner, Jr., Terry Duncan, Larry Burgess, Mitch Abshier, David Popek, Darlene Lyle and Carolyn Easley. The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
