He was born on December 23, 1924 in Rio Vista, Texas and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He brought his family to Bay City in the early 1950's and worked for the Celanese Chemical Company in Bay City for many years. He was a member of the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department and a member and a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Bay City. He was instrumental in forming and building the Baptist church in Sargent and did other volunteer service in the area. Even though he suffered from a debilitating disease he remained a strong example of faith and strength to his family and friends. He is survived by: his wife of over 50 years, Arnelia; daughter and her husband, Jeannie and Leland Sullivan of Magnolia; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Robin Sandusky of Aledo, Jeffrey and Renee Sandusky of Beaumont, and Michael and Kecia Sandusky of Moscow, Idaho; sisters, Peggy White and Rala Dalscheimer; brother, A.N. Sandusky; and grandchildren, Zachary and Andrea Sullivan, Karen, Kay, Todd, Ethan, Callie, Jessica, Mikayla, and Rebecca Sandusky. Funeral services were held on March 17, 2006 at the Mims Baptist Church in Conroe and interment followed at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas.
